Having worked for both Republican and Democratic Administrations in State Government - Laura continues to be a strong bipartisan leader who isn’t afraid to roll up her sleeves and get things done.
We can’t forget our farmers, main streets, and families that built rural Minnesota. We deserve to have a voice and a seat at the table.
Laura was born and raised in Darling Township on a dairy farm near Randall, MN - just outside Little Falls.
She attended North Star Christian Academy and Graduated from Little Falls Community High School and participated in the Riverwatch Program to Russia and Europe studying aquatic biology her senior year. Laura's favorite subjects were science and social studies.
Laura went on to study Sociology, pairing her love of science and people, at St Cloud State University and became President of the Sociology Club. She was a volunteer for Disability Services as a note taker and later studied at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
Laura worked for the State of Minnesota for over ten years and was the State Lead for the Business Services Program, Workforce Development Division, at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
During the Great Recession, Laura was presented with National Award (NACDEP) for Ethnic Chambers Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E) Program in coordination with Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Minnesota American Indian Chamber of Commerce, Minnesota Black Chamber of Commerce, Minnesota Pan African Chamber of Commerce, Vietnamese American Business Association, University of Minnesota, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, Ramsey County, City of Minneapolis, City of St Paul, and Otto Bremer Foundation.
Laura later served as State Program Administrator for the Federal DBE Program, Civil Rights Division, at Minnesota Department of Transportation.
After marrying former Randall Fire Captain, Steve, who was born in Long Prairie and grew up in the Clarissa/Cushing area, Laura and her family returned home to Little Falls.
Locally, Laura worked for MN DNR at Charles A Lindbergh State Park and later for Brainerd Eco Waters Division and has school aged children.
Laura has spent the last few years working as a Business Specialist/Private Banker here in Central Minnesota, has been active in Chamber and traveled to Washington DC twice in 2019 to advocate for Central Minnesota businesses, farmers, and rural broadband.
Laura supports Veterans, Disabled Veterans, persons with disabilities, women, minorities, and diverse groups. She loves people, travel, different foods and variety of culture.
